Time to top up my remaining stock

Good things come in small size....

Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App

This fresh filter really nice to look at. Its white and soft, sometime wonder how it is so durable to filter out many impurities in our engine oil.

TRASKO Oil Filter Part 4 - Hyundai Matrix 1.6

At 18,000km the oil still feel smooth and slippery but somehow it does feel thicker than usuall. A sign that viscoscity has increase. I dont think the oil can go any further, with our hot climate.

So I decide to change the oil. The oil change was conducted at 20,000km..but sorry I dont have any photo taken on the condition of the oil at that millage....just imagine it is worst.

The quantity of Trasko element replace from 0km till 20,000km is 3 piece only without any engine oil change.

Cost:
Trasko element cost : USD9.95 per piece, that sump up to RM104.40 for 3 pieces( 1usd= RM3.50)
Engine oil Mobil 1 = RM138.00 ( I bought it with special discount)

total = RM242.50

Compare to using normal filter replace every 10,000km: RM16x2 = RM32.00
Oil change with Mobil 1 every 10000km x2 : RM138x2= RM276.00

total = RM308.00

Savings : RM308.00-RM242.50 = RM65.50.

I dont include labour charges and other taxes in this calculation as I diy. For those dont like diy...you can add in labour charges and other taxes. Then you can forget about the savings lah.

Today oil change, the last oil change was on 2nd August 2008

Im still using Mobil1

The spark plug condition still looks good after all these years, refer to old posting here http://ritzzuan.blogspot.com/2008/08/bosch-super-4-to-bosch-f1-4.html

TRASKO Oil Filter Part 2 - Hyundai Matrix 1.6

Tested on my Hyundai Matrix 1.6 Manual Year 2005. Engine oil : Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic 5w-50. The car has clocked 56,000km before installing the Trasko Filter. Date tested are printed on the photo, some photos are not date printed as I have change my handphone. Anyway exif details of the photos are intact.

At 7472km..the engine oil is still good. Yes..the engine oil will change colour but lubrication quality still remain intact. The engine oil colour must change, for as long all the impurity is filtered by Trasko filter...the lubrication quality remains. More photos part 3.

TRASKO Oil Filter Part 1

About Trasko:

The Trasko Refining Unit came about when the Govt. officials of the Tokyo metropolis started exploring the possibilities of improving the maintenance their vehicle for increasing their longevity and reducing enviromental impact.In 1985 the Trasko-Bee Corporation in a joint venture with the Subaru Motor Corporation in Japan introduced this refining unit and won an award from the Mayor of Tokyo. The manufacturing premises were expanded to establish The Trasko-Korea Co. Ltd. August 1998, rehman enterprises introduces the Trasko Ultra-Fine Unit for the first time and makes it available both for fleet and individual useThe Trasko unit consists of a reusable canister with built-in 36 cooling fins. Trasko traps particles by lateral dispersion. The special filter element composed of kiln-dried paper has a fine porosity that traps fine particles from flowing oil while dispersing through its permeable layers. The special pressure relief valve-nut actuates when there is a pressure build-up or a surge. The valve then redirects or bypasses the oil to circulate through the 8-10 micron mesh (The critical pressure for setting itself into a bypass mode is between 8-16 psi at the relief valve and output pressure 85-90 psi from a typical vehicle's oil pump). Thus regulating a constant pressure differential in the range of an Input/Output of 1.00 : 0.89 (i.e if the input pressure was 80 psi the output pressure from the Trasko is 71.20 psi, this slight pressuredrop is actually needed so that a small flow of oil is directed through the paper filter media). When flow is least restrictive the absolute particle rating efficiency is less than a micron. Upon relief actuation the secondary efficiency is still between 8-10 microns. An efficiency rating still higher than any stock type full-flow filters. TheTrasko is a hybrid filter, conditionally set as full-flow oil system for any engine and changes itself into the bypass mode when it experiences a pressure above its critical range. Regular shunt market filters are designed full flow only and if they do have a bypass valve then theirbypass is without a guard and the oil flows without any filtration. The Trasko can be used also as a bypass unit, if you prefer to install it along with a regular filter on a dual remote mount. The Trasko is a highly recommended product for diesel applications as well.. See some Spot Tests BELOW
.
This is what inside Trasko oil filter.

Another comparision with original Hyundai oil filter.

Q:Could you use the regular tissue paper as a filter element available in grocery stores?

NO!!! Trasko’s patented tissue rolls are composed of different porosity and permeability. The filter media comes in three different sizes for the 20S, 1OS and the 1OSS series. NO other media is recommended as a substitute. When ordering replacement kits be sure to mention the size of the unit that you have installed to your engine. Find out which filter fits your vehicle by referring to a Fram filter guide (available in Wal-Mart Stores). then utilize our Cross-reference Guide to match the specific size.

Q: When do you change the media roll and gaskets?

Media, gaskets and Oil change is recommended at first 5000 miles then every 10,000 miles the change is only mileage related. For example, if you drove only 15,000 miles in a year you would have to change it only 2 times while still maintaining the oil level.

This how it looks like once fitted to the car
