Cold Air Intake Hose

Managed to get this flexible air hose hose, it cost me RM90.

The earlier plan set up..I re-use the original intake

The final set-up.. ..cold air will be directed to the filter. When the car is moving at higher speed more cold can be channel to the open pod filter. Next project will be the heat shield.

hi there, Im a msian living abroad. I have the same car, only thing it is called plain elantra here in Canada. I am very interested with all the mods going on with your x20 and have been keeping up with all the poison on thm website.

re: the air filter, I was looking for an open pod air filter similar to yours but was told that it is not advisable since the air intake cools the ecu as well, i.e. air intake > ecu > air filter box > engine.

I see that you have the CAI but did you just leave the ECU intake pipe alone?

Hi Vyctor...your ride is auto or manual tranny? What type of poison is there in canada?

ref: Ecu

The ecu has build in cooling fins.furthemore the position of the ecu is further away from the exhaust heat.So far I've been driving for 4 hours straight on the road, caught in traffic jam..its ok..no unusuall behaviour.
You may fixed a computer cooling fan nearby the ECU...that will auto start when you start the engine..

I have an 08 elantra GL auto...

So your car currently has just have the cooling fins on it? no fan etc? if that is the case, I may consider it since the weather here is cooler for the most part of the year. Only problem is, warranty may not cover if anything goes wrong. Most car come with 5yr/100k km warranty. So its a little risky in that sense to lose it.

Well, as far as poison goes, I've only seen it on the web and they are mostly from KAI and Sharkracing and THM + your blogs along with others. Even people from the U.S. buy from there but I find it a little pricey for my liking. Not much available for the x20's here in canada from hyundai other than "sport" version which comes with just like plain bumper lips, rims and spoiler.

Well keep up the postings. Its nice to see so much going on with the new elantras (too bad not in Canada yet :( ) I'll be keeping in touch and here's more poison

Yes, my ECU has cooling fins..I did plan to fixed a cooling fan..as I already have the fan..only need time to fixed it. Canadian weather not as hot in Malaysia..so should be ok as the Elantra 08 ECU have cooling fins unless those normall ECU which are flat type without cooling fins..I would be much worry.

Furthermore hot air dont accumulate at the rear of the engine bay..it flows downwards as the car speed off.Unless the car dont move..thats different thing all together.

I also buy stuff from Sharkracing..other performance stuff are available locally and some from Singapore.

My God!!..Elantra X20 with lambo door, air scoop, angel eyes is just so beautiful!!..
