Everyday bad news

Our economy is not going any better...today news..Panasonic is clossing its Melacca plant and 490 employees would be retrenched. Intel also close 2 factory in Penang. Water tariff is going up soon, sugar price going up as well and electricity tariff will follow soon. Not to mentioned toll charges also. Its a dead end for us. Price of good will be going up but with no income...how you gonna survive. Need to feed our children and provide their education as well.

Its not the time to waste...save every possible ways and cut down on entertaiment. Im putting a STOP to my hobby on my car... no more buying new stuff as I'm still keeping many stuff bought since last year...will use them instead..no point selling it!

Many more graduate from local university will be out of work and those with sponsorship from private company will be lucky to land a job much easier once they graduate.

Hyundai Elantra X20 Amazing Achievements in 2008

The Hyundai Elantra X20 or Hyundai Elantra HD was features in almost all motoring frontpage magazine last year. Review by each magazine has been very encouraging. Twice the Elantra X20 feature on Hypertune and surprise feature on Get@Car magazine...which normally cater for expensive cars.

On top of that, the Hyundai Elantra X20 has won THE BEST LOCAL ASSEMBLE FAMILY SEDAN in the ASIAN AUTO VCA AWARD. This latest 2008 Best Family Sedan Award adds to a host of international acclaims and awards the Hyundai Elantra has garnered in its segment, such as the 2007 AutoPacific’s Most Ideal Car Award, 2007 NHTSA’s Highest Government Crash Test Rating, 2008 Consumer Report’s Top Picks and Best Bet in Jack Gillis’ The Car Book 2008. Moreover, the Elantra is also Hyundai’s No. 1 Best Selling car in USA with sales exceeding 1.2 million in that country alone and is also Hyundai’s best selling car in China.

It doesn't stop there..in the recent Bosch Fuel Efficiency Award 2008, to recognize the most fuel efficient cars in Malaysia, saw a total of 25 car manufacturers submitting entries for 175 car models to be judged in 19 categories...

So if people keep on saying Korean cars are fuel guzzler...at least Hyundai have an award to proved they are wrong. Being top 3 and recognized is a miles stone achievement.

Hyundai X20 wash day

Its has been nearly a year since I detail my Hyundai X20. The paint surface feel rough even after many repeated washing. Long lost the smoothness. I know...the stubborn stain has thicken over the paint surface...

By using the clay....the stain can be removed and leaving a smooth clean surface as seen below

This is the colour of the dirty stain even after the car is wash with your favourite car shampoo !...

After washing, dry and cool... I apply Perma Glass Polymer Sealant all over the car except the front bonnet..why?? I will explain later.

This is the result after 3 hours of washing and applying PG Sealant.

This is why the front boonet was not apply PG Sealant:

I bought Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer...I try it only on the front bonnet. The front bonnet was treated with PG Sealant all these while, so this time...I did not apply any PG Sealant. The front bonnet was clay and dried..that's all.

Here is the result after applying Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer ...but according to the instruction...it takes 12 hours for it to cure on the paint..so we shall see!

Same time I pasted Ultra Racing sticker to both my hyundai's

Upgrade T10 bulb to led

My friend gave me this new T10 led to replace my philips T10 filamen bulb.

I woke very early in morning today to wash my Hyundai X20 and same time replace both T10 bulb. As seen on the photo below, the small bright yellow light on the left is the normal philip T10 bulb and one the right is the T10 led.

Once both are fitted....its very bright for a small light!!

My Saturday poison!

Cant always send to the shop to do it during this difficult time...so the best option is DIY. I bought a 48cm led to replace my footwell blue led. Earlier installation design was hidding the led's as seen below.

So now I choose to expose the led instead. Bring down the cover....as you see..the wiring like rojak!
Old led removed, new led goes in. I use 3M double sided tape plus apply 3M adhesive remover or they call it primer.

The final result...sorry the picture abit blur but I believe you can see it!

My old installation...
I also discover my pivot spark earth was connected near throttle body, which I should not have done it...my mistake. I re-fitted near the spark plug electronic coil. Test drive it....now I can really feel it...improved low end pick up.!

Poison Weekend

What a weekend of poison to start off for year 2009. The other group of X20 owners went for GPS poison, whereas I go for Ultra Racing and Guang Dao. All DIY at home.

It fits in nicely..

Guang Dao High Auto...took only 10 minutes to install. Only connect to +ve and -ve on the battery.

The performance of Guang Dao is fantastic. You can :
1. Feel better and faster pickup
2. Gear change is also smoother
When couple with K&N filter...acceleration is even better. I have pivot v-capa that record the voltage reading...to my surprise the voltage fluctuation has reducing tremendously. Before the max drop till 12.5v, now its maintain between 13.8- 14.00v.

Stupid right!

I quote the news from the Star today:

//Quote//

1,092 summonses issued within a week of rear
seatbelt ruling .

> Exactly a week after the rear seat belt ruling was enforced, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued 1,092 summonses nationwide, reported Harian Metro.
JPJ director Datuk Solah Mat Hassan was quoted as saying that the ruling would be enforced strictly as about 300 deaths in road accidents were caused by reckless drivers, including those who did not wear seat belts.
He added that 60% of the accidents could have been prevented if motorists and passengers adhered to safety rulings

Foreign vehicles exempted from rear seat belt ruling

JITRA: Vehicles from foreign countries, like Singapore and Thailand, entering Malaysia are exempted from the rear seat belt ruling.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said on Friday that the ruling was only for Malaysian registered vehicles, but did not rule out the possibility of it being enforced on foreign vehicles in future.

"But, it would be better if the rear passengers also wear the belts because the (foreign) vehicles are already fitted with the rear seat belts," he told reporters after opening a new building block for Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Pei Min at Padang Sera.

Dato Sri..you enforced a ruling for the people to wear the rear seat belt but same time you exempt the foreign car from wearing it....Why the double standard..why you allow foreign car to have such freedom. They should follow the law in our country when they drive on our road. By doing this..it show bad example of how poor a ruling that being enforce. When we visit foreign country..we follow their local law..that is the sign of respect.

Lets have this ruling be standardise to all vehicle plying on our road. You cant have favourism just because they are foreigners.

Are Minister being exempted from wearing seat belts? If NO...then why the foreign cars are given free hand. If YES...then the foreign cars are just like Minister on our road..

I change to silicon wiper

I bought 2 set of 18" and 24" silicon wiper blade to replace the normal rubber wiperblade on my Hyundai X20. Selling price ranging from RM10.90 till RM11.90, you can buy them from Giant or Jusco.

These silicon blade I have use them on my P.Tiara...for 2 year, 24 hours a day the car being park outside the house...endure rain and hot sun. The silicon wiper never fails. On the 3rd year then only it it shows some deteoriation...till I sold off the car.

Then I place them on my Matrix..for 2.5 years it still wipe clean...I have another set as well... keep as spare.

The original wiper arm can still be use. Only change the rubber blade to silicon blade.

Only 10 minutes job!!
