My X20 breath better today!

I had purchase a 1 month old KNN Filter from Huga24( a THM member) and Kumar had help me to collect it from Huga24. So today I collect the filter from Kumar, from the looks of it...it does looks new. The purchase comes with the KNN Cleaning Fluid..

Original Filter

KNN Filter Inside!!!

Upon reaching home, without any delay...I wash the KNN Filter and applied the oil. No doubt its only 1 month old filter but I think better to clean it properly before putting it in use...at least..I feel Im doing the right thing!

KNN FILTER - its a wet filter as compare to our normal paper type dry filter. It provide higher air flow and max. filteration. Wet air filter are also being used on air compressors for heavy machinery. Paper filter has lower air flow and will cause air exhaustion once you run your engine at higher speed thus your combustion wont be that good.
The Original Filter is thicker than KNN Filter. Thus air restriction is much higher.

Comparing KNN Filter side by side with Original Filter

The result...yes..I do feel better acceleration. The engine rev is lighter. And NO...it does not consume higher petrol...save like Honda EX5..he he he

I have already fill up the form..nah!...what will 3% saving can do? I will ended up paying more to income tax dept by end of the year. Better to deduct 11% from my salary into EPF...that money is tax free! The goverment is thinking by this 3% saving it will increase the buying power from the consumer....better buy Kia Spectra with 0 percent interest for 12 year period!

My new toy (Update)

After hunting high and low for a Sb 800 speedlight which already stop production but still consider as one of the best speedlight...I give up searching for it!...Its very difficult to get one. So the replacement for Sb 800 is Sb900..rather bulky but have more features than Sb 800. In the end I bought it from J-One at Amcorb Mall.

Here is the write up about Sb900 :

Have tested it last night...it works well to my expectation. I have another speedlight from Canon 430Ex for my Canon S5Is..I found both speedlight works differently. Anyway, I will try to figure out if 430ex can be slave flash for Sb900

RM3 as the retail floor price for a litre of petrol !

Yes..that was the message by FOMCA. Its all here _News/NST/Monday. If those people can afford a car..they are not classified as poor and there are people that are not poor but they just dont own a car.

In order to be prudent...the FOMCA should request the goverment to tax exempted hybrid or electric cars. This cars are eco friendly and better for our economy. Why FOMCA never think of this? Do FOMCA think we are living in a wonderland where price of fuel is expensive and goods will be cheaper!..Hey look at our salary...it did not increase when the petrol was at RM2.70 and the price of other good increase causing inflation to increase.

Just look at this present moment..price of petrol has reduce from RM2.70 to RM2.00. Has the price of teh tarik reduce or mee goreng mamak reduce...nope!!! Why Fomca dont address this matter and concentrate on single subject..The people already trying to be prudent since the price of good going up and by having the price of petrol to RM3/- there is no guarantee the public will spend on other goods. Its only making petrol station retailer in safe heaven..why not!..the petrol station retailer are getting dirt cheap petrol and selling at sky high expensive to the consumer. Dont we have right to enjoy the lower petrol price, since our salary have never gone up and standard of living is already high.

As a Malaysian Consumer Association they should look into people's complain, there should not be any political or business link in any of their proposal.

My new toy

After 2 years toying with a prosumer camera...I just cant resist to jump into the world of dslr. I have to learn fast and be quick with the button. Well no free gift from J-one Camera as the owner Jason says...as pro..you dont look for free gift..what is important is the camera and price... anyway I manage to squeeze him for a Nikon bag and the normal cleaning cloth with duster... Also I bought the electronic dry box...yeah...its to keep away the fungus from the lense and sensor during storage.

D300 with 51 focus point compare to my prosumer Canon IS5...is light years apart. So next year I plan to get:
1. Speedlite SB800 or SB900
2. A lense for potrait
3. Battery grip
4. Wide angle lense
5. Another 4Gb CF card.
6. Wired remote release shutter button...this is good for night shot!
I plan to join photo workshop organise by Nikon and Photo Malaysia next year to gain more experience...hmmm...have to stop poison my X20 or Matrix la!!

Hyundai Matrix Timing Belt( Update)

On Saturday morning 15/11/08, I send my Matrix to Hyundai SC at Jln 222. I reached there about 8.30am and about 30 min later they start working on my car. I brought my own spares and to my surprise, the supervisor check the parts I brought in and claims my timing belt is fake but the bearing and tensioner is OK. Surprise to hear it, so decided to make comparison and found their original belt and my spare timing belt are the same but having less marking. But I proceed and request them to use the spare I brought.

After the old timing belt was removed..another surprise struck in. The old timing belt from my Matrix is having the same marking as per my own spares I brought in....so who is telling truth. I call the surpervisor and show it to him...he was really surprise. So end up we conclude.. both are original. I hardly can't believe my timing belt is fake as I bought it from a Hyundai Spare Parts Distributor in Jln Ipoh. If its all the while is fake..for sure this distributor will be in hot soup long long time go.

The timing belt should have markings such as Gates,Power Grip,HTD,Hyundai and belt no as seen below.

Also found the timing belt cover damage, perhaps happen during last year when the aircond belt tensioner drop out and sheer of the cover...luckily did not hit the timing belt.

I also change the power steering fluid as found some noise develope on the pump...after change the fluid..no more noise!..will have to keep in view on this power steering pump. The aircond, power steering and alternator belt was replace with my own spare worth RM58.00. So the expenses touch

1. Aftf fluid for power steering = RM47.60
2. Timing belt cover = RM48.45
3. Windscreen cleaner = RM6.00
4. Labour to renew timing belt = RM160.00
5. Labour to renew power steering fluid = RM30.00
6. Timing belt kit = RM 160.00
7. Air cond, power steering and alternator belt = RM 58.00

Total = RM 510.05

Since I brought in my own timing belt..that is why the labour they charge RM160.00 or else its only RM80.00 if we use their timing belt. Their timing belt alone was RM348.00. Anyway Im greatful they explain to me.

Matrix timing belt

My Matrix 1.6M already clocked 62000km..high time to change its timing belt. I hope nothing goes wrong with the water pump.

So I went out and bought the timing belt kit from Vanli Auto in Jln Ipoh today, cost me RM160. Wanted to changed the power steering belt, alternater belt and a/cond belt...too bad they dont have any stock. I will have to check PH Auto in PJ..
The timing belt kit comes complete with a belt tensioner, bearing and 2pcs oil seals.

Plan to add an oil catchment tank...very soon!!!
