My day at Kklau...

Finally, a visit to Kklau has bear some fruits....and sametime I pokai!!!

Install a 2 channel Aulux amplifier AXS 752, it fits nicely on the Alpine subwoofer box. Not much information of this Aulux amp, I only know that it has 2x75w RMS from the installer. Installation was fast...just hook in as all wires are already ready on the woofer box.

Setting are at min. will running in the amp for about a month before tuning it. Its a space saving subwoofer suitable for my Matrix.

Its still have some value...

Remember I change my subwoofer speaker on my Alpine .. lucky I did not chuck it away!

The Alpine SWD-2000 will now need a new amplifier or a 2nd hand unit..as long its an amp that can drive the Boschmann subs!

By the time a new amplifier is fitted ...this unit will no longer be called Alpine...

Elantra battery replacement

My standard battery has reach 3 years old... however the battery was still good but my worries of its sudden failure has prompt me to replace them. Yes I have AAM but they might not give me the battery that I want or trade off the old battery. For an automatic car with lots of sensors...3 years is good enough for a battery, in my Matrix 1.6L M the battery lasted up to 4 years!!

Finally install today 23/1/2011...comes with 1 year warranty.

Delkor battery cost me RM260.00. The old battery was trade off for RM15.00 so final price of Delkor NS70L is RM255.00.

Daytime running light ( DRL)

This was the only spot I could think off...

To install them, the whole front bumper have to be removed. A new power cable has to be run from the battery into the cabin. I have install a manual switch where I can manual ON and OFF the DRL and it is also wire to the ignition, so no worries should I ever forgot to switch it OFF,

And the finally outcome...my DRL!

The iPad 2....

Would you willing to settle for a smaller screen? Maybe for a newbie they would but those who have the 1st iPad... I don't think so. Just look at the poll result conducted in The Star

I too prefer the current screen size to be on the iPad 2 . A 7inch screen is a big NO. Better that the iPad2 have more feature compare to current ipad.

XRCD - Extended Resolution Compact Disc

Im my years of playing audio cd's..looks like its never to old to learn something about it..its type!.XRCD...have you ever play them or own them?. Its not cheap...3-4 times the price of an original audio cd!

I do have the original Eagle cd but the curiousity just keep increasing...whats so speacial with XRCD. Lucky Victoria Music are selling many audiophilles cd and XRCD's...I manage to get the same albumEagle album in XRCD for RM150.00. I hope that would be my 1st and only investment in XRCD as its so freaking expensive.


Anyway, the hottest song in this album is " Hotel California "....

New Year 2011 - Sound Proofing my Elantra X20 Roof

Have a few metres of raammat left over and some foam sheets, the opening day of the new year 2011 was a perfect day to complete my sound proofing on my Elantra. I dont know about other owners but my Elantra roof is really noisy...rain drops even the tiny one's can be heard very clearly.

Side door trims, all hand handles, roof lamps, sun shades and rear/ front plastic pillar covers are removed. Front seat head rest was also removed.

Once the roof was brought down it exposed the naked truth...the roof was almost naked. With only 3 piece of factory cloth sound proof, its clearly not able to absorb all the noise.

Once the factory sound proof is removed, workers still have to removed those stubborn cloth that still stick on the roof.

The whole surface was thoroughly clean before the raammat was applied. Using a roller helps to pressed the raammat firmly.

Every inches of the roof was covered and I further added another layer of raammat to make it 2 layer of raammat on the roof.

The final touch was to install a single layer of 6mm self-adhesive foam sheet that act as sound suppression on the raammat. So the roof has both sound suppression and sound dampening.

Once completed, its time to fixed back the roof. The work hours to complete this was task was 3 hours.

Ipad/iphone/ipod touch docking station.

I was amazed by what this docking station is capable off..charge my ipad, having usb 2.0 hub and it also comes with a multi-card reader.... https://www.photofast.com.tw/HardWareOrder/iPADock_Design.html. For RM249.00 the seller agree to include a usb extension cable worth RM13.00 for free.

This is the box...there is no manual on how to install it and where the cable should go etc. That is where I got pissed off! And there is no warranty card...only shop warranty for 6 month!

I thought the built-in card reader hub will eliminate the need for Camera Connection kit and how wrong was I...the usb hub is only to transfer files to your computer NOT to the Ipad! There is no link between the memory card reader hub with the Ipad usb connector. There is an empty slot to place the Ipad Camera Connection kit, just to make sure that we wont missed place them..nothing special! This is where I feel...dammed me for paying for an overprice piece of gadget!

The plus point about this docking station, that it is made of good quality white plastic and the cables provided are all made of good quality. It can charge the Ipad, iphone and ipod touch in a single docking station.

To fully utilize my over price piece of gadget:

1. Connect it with another usb multi-card reader having longer cables, so I wont need to turn the docking station to insert any memory card.

2. Data cable is connected to another external 7 point usb hub for faster data transfer.

3. A male-female usb extension cable is connected to the rear of the docking station, so I wont need to insert any usb thumb drive at the rear of the docking station any longer.
