Dinner at De Templer Taman Melati

I used to visit mamak or Malay stall for dinner.Plus sometimes go for Western at Moons Kitchen. However last night, I want to try something different... I have heard good remarks from my relatives about De Templer restaurant...its cooking style from Chinese Muslim and the chef are from China as well.

In order to taste variety of food..better to order small dishes right!....so I place the order as below:

Steam Ikan Siakap 3 Rasa

Fried Sotong with sos

Lemond Chicken

Sambal Petai With Prawn

Bean curd with carb meat

Tomyam for 4 pax...got prawn, mushroom and fish ball

Fried eggs...

Butter prawn...got 8 big prawn!

8 dishes I ordered...and when it arrives...our table was full. I order small...but that small plate was not "small" as I thought!!!.. I think other patrons will be thinking...wow...look at that family of 4...BIG EATERS!!!.

Finally.... we manage to finish ALL the food and yes...this is the best ever dinner I've had. The bill comes to RM138.70.

Would I visit this De Templer again...oh yes!

Bakar lemang!!!

The Muslim folks at Condominium Pelangi in Sentul has decided to held..Hari Raya Open House. So last night they were busy preparing the main dish...lemang, ketupat and rendang. They all volunteer to make this event work as this is the 1st time they held such an event. The women did the cooking for rendang ayam, rendang daging and ketupat. The men prepare the lemang.

This how you fill in the glutoneous rice into the buluh lemang ( bambo )

On about 10.30pm....the lemang was put near the fire...total 65pcs was prepared.

It will take about 3-4 hours to slowly burn the lemang ... I had to call off by 12 midnight.

The women folks really did a good job here...rotong royong.! During this time the ketupat already boiled. Now they are preparing the rendang. Hari raya with ketupat and rendang is really a must.

Melamine contaminated food

With more and more milk products from China and Taiwan having problem. We really got to check where the things are produced. Here is a way to differentiate Taiwan made products and China made products : by looking at first three digits of its Bar Code.

If the 1st 3 digits are 690, 691 or 692 - China made
If the 1st 3 digits are 471 – Taiwan made

Cuti-cuti and balik kampung !!!

We start off Raya balik kampung on 1/10/08 at 3.30pm from KL to Kuala Kangsar. I did not drive fast ..maintaining speed between 80-90km/hr. The road was not busy...

By 7.45pm we reached Kuala Kangsar. That is the my wife grandfather's home where all family members from wife side will gather every year.We clock a millage of 227.90km

Then on the 3/10/08, we decided to drive to Penang...the was clear!! but I maintain speed of between 80-90km/hr....no speeding!!

We stop by at Juru Auto city for lunch at Pizza Hut. My daughter of 1 year 8 month was very delighted with the spagetti meat ball.Click on the video below

We took the ferry instead of the bridge as the jetty is not far from Cititel Penang.

We check in Cititel Penang at about 2pm.We were greeted by this security lady...wow..she has that fierce look.

In the evening, we decided to take drive around Penang and same time looks out for Penang laksa, penang rojak and nasi kandar. We spotted this shop by the road near Batu Feringgi..selling Penang Laksa for RM2 per plate.....my god..its so nice. No wonder it attracted such a big crowd.

I had a good 3 plate of laksa...yummy!

On that night..we just walk to nearby nasi Kandar Shop...tasted ok.The road was slightly crowded with cars...so walking is the best solution.

So the next morning 4/10/08, we had buffet breakfast in Cititel and by 10.30am we check out from the hotel. Upon leaving Cititel..the millage clock by Hyundai x20..450.9km..still have 1/4 tank of petrol to go.

Bye bye Penang...jumpa lagi...

We were very lucky..upon arrival at the jetty..we drive straight into the ferry..we were the last car....save waiting time.

The road was ok...a slight increase in traffic but moving at ease. I still maintain my speed between 80-90km/hr.

Spotted this white Nissan Selphy...still can see some plastic covering the seat. The owner must be very happy driving his new car.

There were also minor accident and this cause slowdown on the highway.

We have to exit Tapah as the fuel neddle is almost reaching E.

I fill up at Shell Tapah. And total millage upon fill up at Tapah is 649.80km.
Fuel consumed 47L. This makes my Hyundai Elantra FC 1L= 13.48km or 7.4L= 100km.

We then stop by for lunch in Tapah...nice makan place...you may scoop as much as you want..so we end up paying RM38.00.

1. one big fresh water fish( sorry dont know its name but very nice)
2. one bowl of kerang
3. one bowl of prawn @ 10 piece
4. 4 glass ice serup
5. 2 piece chicken kurma

Finally we continue our journey and exit via Kepong to Sentul. There was heavy downpour..luckily no flash flood.

We finally reached home at 5.30pm...7 hour journey!!!
