My Elantra X20 rear trailing arm

The Elantra rear trailing arm is solid state and un-adjustable. No way to change the camber angle and the rear tyre will end up worn either inner outer section. Should I fitted bigger tyre and lower spring..the rear tyre alignment is almost impossible.

However with the help of some friends, manage to source the adjustable rear trailing arm from Mancado.com.sg. Many THM member fitted it...no more problem.

It can be dismantle as seen below...

Hyundai Matrix tyre change

Finally the front tyre has to be change...badly bald even the tyre shop wont accept trade-in!! I like Hankok tyre but too bad they dont have for 15" rim..so I finally settle for Yokohama A-Drive. So happens the rear tyre is also using Yokohama for the past 1 year...it has served my well.

The tyre looks great, its date 24th weeks of year 2010 on its side wall. The shop charge me RM180.00 per tyre inclusive of alignment and balancing.

Now my Matrix looks great and will handle the road much much better.

Get more information about the tyre here:

Elantra rear tyre change

The old Good Year NTC5 has reach its limit. Confirm with Kah Bintang SC and tyre shop that the rear tyre has uneven wear spot. No wonder thats the of the humming sound once the car reached 80-100km/hr. I prefer Hankok V12 but many tyre shop either dont have them or expensive. So I ended with Falken ZE5221 205/55/16 for RM260.00 per tyre.

Bye bye....

Welcome....

Its manufacture on 11th week 2009.

DIY Heat Shield for my Elantra

It was on Sunday morning that I had an idea to DIY a heat shield for the intake filter. Been thinking what is the best design etc but wont cost a bomb. So happen have an extra foam sheets laying around in the store...I decided to give it try.

The whole lower section and side section of the filter including theATF diptick is covered. The dipstick provide some top opening that prevent the foam sheets from sitting right ontop of the filter thus causing it to suffocating. The cold air intake hose will continue to supply cold air from outside without any effect from the hot air of the engine bay.

The whole foam sheet covered nicely and secured with cable tie. No problem in removing the cable tie should in the next service the dipstck need to be lifted.

I also allow an opening that will channel cold air to the engine bay ECU.

The verdict....the noise from the open pod air filter reduce by 50% during hard accleration. And the pick-up seems better on hot days not like before...kinda feel some lagging. Will have to further monitor during long distance travel.

The Black Tucson i35 2.0

I spotted the black Hyundai Tucson i35 at Kah Bintang Jalan Ipoh...wonder who is the lucky owner that have bought this SUV. Always seeing those silver SUV but this black SUV does looks very sexy....

The crown jewel...6 speed gearbox!

The paint looks good...even better than those Hyundai CKD !
