A good wash at Taman Sri Rampai

A hectic Sunday, had lunch at Ali Maju then head straight to the car wash. It is a 24hours car wash centre jush beside the Old Town White Coffee, Taman Sri Rampai.

There was few cars ready and some still wasshing , so I just need to drive straight into the wash bay. No machine...it's all man power.

It was quick, 3 men and 2 high pressure water spray... in 10 minutes, the car is ready for drying. The wash wax including vacuum, tyre wax in total  RM25 .

My Hyundai Matrix Maintenance 2017-2018

Had planned this work since last week and today manage to take off. So early morning, I visited the Hyundai shop aka Express Mobis. Bought some nice stuff...

Power Steering Belt

Aircond Belt 4PK810

Plug Rubber Seal

Alternator Belt 4PK845

Valve Cover Rubber Gasket - OEM.

The mission is to change the valve cover gasket and all the external belts except timing belt. Too much leaking around the cover, mind you that the cover is made of plastic not cast iron!

Once the cover are lift out, it expose all the top moving parts. The red arrows pointed to the rubber plug seal's, there are all 4 pcs. If the seal are broken, the engine oil will escape and enter the spark plug from the top. You will have some oil accumulated on spark plug chamber.

Photo on the left is the old plug seal which have some crack and photo on the right is the new plug seal

New plug seal, new valve gasket fitted and a clean valve cover.

Nicely done up including replacement of the external belts.

Express Mobis run out of stock of the aircond filter, so had to get from nearby aircond shop. This one cost me RM50. I DIY the replacement.

The battery positive terminal was at it's worst condition, had it replace with new terminal...very cheap RM10 complete with installation.

I have an extra bottle of the ATF, flush the power steering system with fresh hydraulic fluid....now the pump is running smooth after flushing.

Enough for today.....
As for the external belt replacement, better let the workshop guy do it. Not that easy as it look.

So final job done and expenses

1. All external belt  - RM75.00
2. Battery terminal 1pcs  - RM10
3. Aircond filter - RM50
4. Plug seal - RM20
5. Valve cover gasket( OEM) - RM20
6. ATF oil  - RM80
7. Workshop Labour - RM90

Total : RM345.00

My car...so what's your problem !

I have passion for cars and bikes...I'm the type that read the brochure and look for details either in the internet or by talking with someone who knows. I have deal even bigger engines where I myself can get into the liner..so that is how big the engine I have work.

So for car's, it a kind of passion..I joined motoring club...I love the discussion, that is where I learn. We joke around...our joke may sound harsh , this is normal for any guys who are with car members. But never ever compare are car to your wife or mother or father or sister etc....that is cruel.

We get back on cars subject, there are people who never know what type or kind or spec of a car...as they are drivers. Their hard earn money = the best car that they can afford. That brings to another episode of ...knowing the car.

For GOD SAKE....don't be naive. Learn to be clever... buy the auto magazine and read...joint others or car clubs. Be friendly when people comment your car..that is where you will learn one or two or three. Never defend something that is not yours...wasting your energy to be stressed out. Right or wrong ... that is not the issue....cheer up and move on.

People say bad thing about my 1st car Proton Tiara and still they say bad thing about Hyundai ( we have 2 hyundai car, a manual tranny and auto tranny ), the famous comment ..." it looks like Toyota, looks like Honda. Hyundai is copy cats."  I just ignore it...I know my car. ...in fact I get used to the comments.  Resale value is secondary, I like to keep the car as long as I can. Just like Proton Tiara..12 years 220,000 km, never ever its radiator breaksdown or even need to change its water pump till sold the car.

As for my Hyundai's ...I'm looking at 20 years ownership...

I use my blog as a reference point .. my diary...can't remember everything or knowing everything..aged is catching up...
