Are our local fisherman being too pamperred?

For more than 50 years they have been pinning with the government for help and what happen through out that period...I still see them in wooden vessel. They still employ foreign workers. How much have they catch....if they had catch enough fish..we wont be importing fish from Thailand. Have they really explore the sea around our country territory or let alone those modern vessel from Thailand to catch all our fish. Why Japan don't import fish and why Thailand able to export fish and why we are selling our own fish to Singapore whereas our domestic market also not enough to consume.

This is not the fist time our local fisherman are asking for subsidy and our government has bow to their demands but subsidy diesel may end up as another way to earn quick income. Better to have remove the subsidy so that our fisherman will catch more fish and buy modern engine and equipment. Lowering the diesel price will not lower the price of fish we buy in the market.

Yes..there are time our fisherman cant go to see because of bad weather..but then again, you see our local fisherman vessel are made of wood..how on earth your vessel can withstand 2-3 meter waves.

We expect..after many long years of assisting the fishermen...90% of our fisherman have modern vessel..instead the outcome is the other way around!. Those subsidy are public money...we pay through various taxes in order the country will prosper and help those needy.
